about

I wrote this song for a GLBT rights rally put on by my good friend Steampunk Emma Goldman, at a convention in New England. It was originally performed on the back of a flatbed truck under a clear blue Massachusetts sky.

lyrics

There's words for folks like me,
That's what you always say
I had some words for you
But you took 'em all away

I try to say the safe word
But you dominate my discourse
Nobody can hear me
Even when I scream myself hoarse

You get to have your way,
why can't I have mine?
Why must you legislate
to make my life a crime?

We may not fit your definition
Ain't no cause to scream and shout
Your dictionary's lookin' dusty
Why don't you toss it out?

Now love it ain't a band thing
It sure beats fighting wars
Who I love's my business
And it sure as hell ain't yours

Ain't nobody's dirty business
How I love my baby
Nobody's business but my own.

about

Painless Parker Brooklyn, New York

Born under a barstool and raised by a pack of wild koalas, Painless Parker plays a mixed bag of country laments, sea shanties, murder ballads and classic rockers, filtered through a grimy, whiskey-stained punk lens. He's fluent in two languages, and can cuss in at least seventeen. He enjoys rabble-rousing, shindigging, booze drinking and merrymaking. ... more
